We are working on plans to reinvigorate the Museum with a wholesale redisplay and reinterpretation of the collections as well as more focus on the wonderful Grade 1 listed Moot Hall, which houses both the Museum and Aldeburgh Town Council.
Exciting news update January 2017!
We are delighted to announce that HLF initial funding of £77,000 has now been confirmed for the Aldeburgh Museum Redevelopment Project. This enables the Museum and Council team to start work on the development phase of the project - detailed planning for major improvements to the display and interpretation of the Museum’s collections and the Grade 1 listed Moot Hall. Over the coming weeks and months, a team of specialists will be appointed to work with us to progress with our plans. Click here for the News Release
The news is particularly exciting as it comes after several years of planning, preparation and consultation by the Museum’s volunteer team in partnership with Aldeburgh Town Council. David Germond, a designer with over 20 years of national and international experience, produced a Visualised Concept and Space Planning Study for us in Spring 2016, to help identify initial options to make the Moot Hall both a Museum and working Council Chamber fit for the 21st Century. 2017 will see these plans considered and developed by a team of designers yet to be appointed.
